Decanting Your Wine To Be Ready For Drinking

If you want to improve the taste of your wine, you should decant it. This is a step that many people skip and then never realize how much they miss out on the great taste that a drink can get once it has been decanted or aerated.

Decanting your wine implies leaving all those sediments at the bottom of your wine bottle. You simply pour the wine into a container, which is also called a wine decanter, and in the process the sediments are left out. This way when you are drinking the wine from your glass, you won't feel those small particles of deposits in your mouth.

Another aspect of decanting is the process of aerating your wine and allowing it to breath. This simply means that the wine mixes up with the oxygen which allows it to enhance the flavor and taste and bring out the full bouquet and aroma in your drink.

While not all wines need to go through the process of decanting, some do. Particularly older red full bodied wines need to have their sediments removed through decanting. Also wined between ages 6-15 should be always decanter prior to being consumed. Finally, keep in mind that really old wines (between 20-30 years old) should not be decanted because they are truly mature wines and the process of aeration could destroy their very fragile flavor.
