Winter is over and summer will be here before you know it - and summer time is prime grilling season! Not only does grilling bring a great flavor to your food, it's a fun activity for the whole family. And no one wants to add extra heat to the house during sizzling summer months - take all that hot cooking outside. If you haven't realized how much value you can get from a barbecue grill, perhaps its time for you to take another look at outdoor cooking.
Not only does cooking outside keep the heat out of the kitchen, it's a super way of bringing the whole family together for meal preparation. Smart moms know - the grill is the best way to get Dad to do the cooking! For whatever reason, it seems that men are much happier to do the cooking on the grill than they are to help out with regular cooking chores in the kitchen. And as an added bonus, there's much less mess in the kitchen to clean up after wards.
But what about the rest of the family? We've got Dad doing the cooking, so let's get the kids involved too. Let them set the table - even better if you've got an outside area to eat. Even your smallest children can feel helpful when they help carry out paper plates, utensils or ketchup and mustard while Mom prepares toppings or side dishes in the house.
If you do plan on eating outside, there's no more worrying about spilled drinks or dropped ketchup - but for convenience you might want to invest in portable and kid-friendly table settings. Make sure to find condiment containers that don't fall over easily, and that won't get blown across the yard with a gust of wind. And don't forget tablecloth clips, to keep your tablecloth from flying off!
While a lot of people save cooking on the grill for the weekend, you should really think about grilling during the week. Summer days are longer, so there's plenty of light outside for an 'al fresco' dinner. After spending a stressful day at work or trapped in an office, it's nice to be able to sit outside in the evening and enjoy nature together with your family. - 24553
