As much as we would all like to be Martha Stewart and do all the party necessities by ourselves, sometimes we simply have to give ourselves some break. Even the most organized person requires a little help every now and then so don't be embarrassed to ask for a little aid, especially in the kitchen post where the life of the party is made.

If you are set to cook and prepare for your guests on your party, be ready for the challenges it will bring. Aside from taking care of the decorations, activities, and the hosting of the party itself, you will as well need to take care of the preparation of the fare, which will likely be best started at least a week before the party.

Party type equals food menu list:

If you are determined to be a hero and likewise cater your own party, you should specify first what kind of party you are having as your food menu will be dependent on this. A kiddie party will require kid-friendly food list. It means that you have to shy away from using alcohol or spicy ingredients and any food that requires the use of a sharp knife to cut down. If you are having a reunion party for your gym chums, then let them attend your party without ruining their efforts in the gym by preparing low calorie and low fat foods.

That being said, you should as well include mixture to your menu. Perhaps not all of your guests eat meat, so you would be making all of them happy and satisfied if you include a little veggie fare for more choices.

Make a budget for the banquet:

You want to throw the greatest party in town, yes, but that doesn't automatically mean that you should go broke after the party. Be kind to yourself and established a reasonable amount so you won't go over board in picking up ingredients and add-ons. Count your guests and make an allowance, so you will still have extra food just in case somebody crashes your party.

Just note that the amount you should fix should be reasonable. Being practical also means being realistic. In our current economic situation, all prices are going up. Make sure your budget will still let you to buy the essential ingredients. You can still do something to save on cost, though.

Scour for the real steals:

Shop around for budget items. There are local stores and bargain stores that can provide discounted prices. You can find the table napkins, dinnerware, decorations, eating utensils, and others, as well as some food ingredients, to be a little less expensive there. You just have to figure out which ones have more steal prices.

Be sure not to be carried away, though. Stick to your tried and tested food ingredient brand. Don't experiment on other brands of seasoning if your regular brand can give you the taste and quality you are looking for. No need to choose quality over price.

Established a timeline:

Prepare your things to-do list by making certain the days and hours drawing to the big event are set. Begin the preparation for foods that call for long cooking. If it needs to be made a day or so earlier, allot the necessary time to get it done. Barbecues that need to be marinated overnight must be set the night before the party.. Sweets that need to be served fresh must be ready an hour before the main event.

Although it is tough, catering for your own party shouldn't be completely difficult. Just remember to observe the rules and most significantly, enjoy. - 24553
