Talk about sweet dish and it is cakes that top the choice charts. While this sweet delight is intended to appease your taste buds, there is not any harm in pepping up the visible appeal too. Well decorated cakes look extremely engaging and can lure even the calorie conscious too to take a bite. Though the task of decorating a cake may sound to be a little challenging, it's not as hard as it may seem to be.

One of the most common avenues to decorate cake is to make use of an icing. Icing the simplest way to add a soft touch to your cake. In addition to making it smooth, topping goes a long way in adding on to the plain looks and appearance of the cake. You can either opt for a single color icing or can also go in for a double colored icing. In case you are going in for the second, begin by almost making partitions on the cake. Fill different colored icing in the separate partitions. If you want to give a mismatched look, simply put in different colored topping together in a container and then shake it well. This could marble both the icings together giving an effect of double tint to your cake.

Using a fork is one of the most simple things that you can do to embellish your cake. Once the coating is frozen, simply run your fork through the frosting. You can make a checkered pattern or draw diagonal lines. If you are good enough, you can also think about employing a toothpick to draw great designs. You could even consider writing names with the same. Once you are done drawing patterns, you can demarcate the design using chocolate sauce or any flavored syrup.

Fruits are of great help when it comes to decorating cakes. Get fruits in as many colors as practicable. Some fruits that work the best for cakes include orange, strawberries, mangoes, grapes and kiwis. When using fruits, it is suggested that you dip the fruits in a mixture of water and lemon juice. This would make sure that the fruits don't turn black and stay fresher for a longer time. Try creating beautiful patterns using different colored fruits.

Yet one more great option in decorating cakes is, using the edible flowers. These flowers help you save the time and effort that goes into decorating cake. All you need to do is to buy the edible flowers from the market and simply place them on the rim of the cake. You can also try making a design out of the edible flowers as well. Another such in line option for you is to go in for cake toppers. There are a few cake toppers generally available in the market. Focus on any as per your likings.

Thus, as the above points prove, decorating a cake is not that complicated after all. And the end result is a beautiful cake which looks as succulent as it tastes. - 24553
